It’s been nearly a year since I actually wrote down some thoughts on this blog so here it goes…
I’ve been thinking recently about the lack of mercy and love we have these days. The fact that people will take their grudges to their graves disturbs me. Families are torn apart over futile issues. We ask Allah for mercy and compassion but yet we can’t show the same to our fellow neighbours in this world? Let’s remember Prophet Muhammad (may God’s peace and blessings be upon him) was forgiving and lived by compassion and mercy. He forgave the assassin who killed his uncle, Hamza (may God be pleased with him). If we want to strive to live to the example of Al Habib (the beloved) then we should swallow our pride.
The Ummah is the way it is because of the lack of love we have for each other. We let sectarian issues get in the way. I don’t agree with Salafism/Wahabbism but at the end of the day they are my brothers and I shall pray for them. My door is always open. The same goes for others be they Shia or Sunni. I don’t have time for argumentation but have time for unification.
This seeker is trying to walk the road which leads to God. If you want to join me, then join. If you want to argue then leave me be. If you don’t want to join then leave me be.
I’ll leave you with a quote from the Masnavi by Mevlana Rumi.
“Love wants its tale revealed to everyone,
But your heart’s mirror won’t reflect this sun,
Don’t you know why we can’t perceive it here?
Your mirror’s face is rusty-scrape it clear!”
