Posted in Alerts, Charity Appeals, News on November 19, 2007 by Adnan

Sallam alaykum and hello. Below is a message sent to me by Islamic Relief Worldwide. Please read and pass on. Thank you.

According to the BBC News website:

“Cyclone Sidr has killed more than 3,000 people. Millions are now homeless”.

From God we come and to Him we return.

May God shower mercy on all those affected and give them patience and peace at this testing time. Ameen.

Salam and Hello everyone

We have been receiving many enquiries from you about how you can get involved and help raise funds for the people of Bangladesh.

Islamic Relief has launched a £3 million appeal for Bangladesh and if there is anything you can do to help us achieve this target, it would be fantastic.

o The first thing that you can do is to donate yourself: https://www.islamic-relief.com/submenu/help/signin.asp?src=IRWFrontPg
o You can contact your local Islamic Relief Office and ask them what you can do
o You can organise your own event with your friends and family and ask your local Islamic Relief fundraising Office to help: http://www.islamic-relief.com
o Use the internet to spread the word and to raise awareness and donations. You can do this by uploading details of the Islamic Relief Appeal to social bookmarking sites such as Digg and StumbleUpon. (go to http://www.islamic-relief.com and click the bookmarking icons)
o If you have a blog, post about the appeal and link to Islamic Relief
o pass the http://www.islamic-relief.com link around to as many websites, blogs, forums etc and friends as you can

These are just some of the things you can do to help the appeal. Of course pray for the people and for the families affected by this cyclone first.

If you have any questions about helping us in this appeal please contact us.

Many thanks for you support

Sallam alaykum.

The proper manners and methodology of seeking knowledge in Islam, from the Counsel of Imam Taqi al-Din Subki to his son Muhammad. The poem is read and explained by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani of www.SunniPath.com.  Important in understanding a sound traditional Islamic understanding of knowledge; how it is sought; and the methodology of learning and knowledge that Muslims should follow. Emphasis is given on the purpose of knowledge; acting upon it; sincerely seeking the pleasure of Allah through it; following the way of the inheritors of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); and manifesting the fruits of knowledge in one’s life–faith, piety, worshipfulness, and excellence of character and conduct.
